TLDR: A rare issue about the least interesting battery in the room: me (technically a fuel cell though if you think about it). Here's who actually writes this, plus two questions only you can answer, whether you want a look inside a real battery test and prototyping lab, and whether you want to write for BBB yourself.

Battery Burn Book almost never talks about itself. Today it does, briefly, because I have two things I genuinely need your read on.

Who's writing this

I'm Alyssa. I have a PhD in chemical engineering and I spent my research career recycling and making cathodes at 24M Technologies, plus a stint co-founding a materials company, so I've gotten to see three different battery startups fail from the inside! These days I'm Director of Business Development at the Battery Innovation Center, a battery test and prototyping lab: people bring us the materials and cells they swear work, and we find out.

I started Battery Burn Book because almost none of this information is in a bachelor's degree. I learned it one paper at a time in my PhD, and there's no good reason it should be that hard to find. You don't need a PhD to read it, which is the whole point.

Question 1: do you want to see inside a test lab?

Here's the honest tension. My day job now gives me a front-row seat to how cells actually get proven out: rate and HPPC testing, module design, abuse testing (yes, we blow things up on purpose), and the commercialization conversations that decide whether good science ever ships. I could bring you some of that, the genuinely educational parts, clearly labeled, views strictly my own and never my employer's.

But I don't want BBB to turn into a company newsletter, and I trust you to tell me the line. So: do you want behind-the-scenes of a real battery test and prototyping lab, or does that stray too far into self-promotion? Vote in the poll below. Be honest, I can take it, I'm from Boston.
